The Wurlitzer 200 is an iconic electromechanical electric piano, produced from 1968 to 1974, known for its distinct, “barky” or gritty vintage tone. Unlike the smooth, bell-like sound of the Rhodes piano, the Wurlitzer 200’s sound becomes more aggressive and overdriven with harder playing. The unit includes a 30-watt amplifier and two internal speakers positioned to face the player. It also has a characteristic tremolo effect, which is a fixed-rate, bias-shifting volume modulation.
